One of the most competitive examinations to pursue an MBA is the Common Admission Test (CAT).


CAT is a national level examination organized by twenty IIMs (Indian Institute of Management on a rotational basis.  CAT 2019 was conducted by IIM Kozhikode. In the month of May 2020, it will be declared, which IIM is conducting the exam for the year 2020. Moreover, its score is valid for one year and also help to get admission in reputed colleges of India. In this examination, the student has to take problem-solving skills, IQ levels, and scholastic aptitude tests. Working people can also appear in the CAT if they want more to excel in their career, and make a significant addition to their resume.

CAT Eligibility Criteria


In order to appear for the CAT exam, the student has to meet the eligibility criteria. If the student is not eligible then he/she will not be allowed to appear for the examination.


Age Limit


There is no age limit for appearing in the CAT 2020.


Note: IIM may verify the eligibility criteria of the candidates at any stage of the selection process. So it is recommended always to provide a valid and active email id and phone number for hassle-free communication.


Qualification Criteria


  • The candidate must have passed graduation with 50% marks (SC/ST/PWD must hold 45 % marks). Apart from this, an applicant who has done professional courses like ICWA, CA, CS, etc with required percentage (50 percentile), he/she is also eligible for the entrance test.
  • The candidate who is in last year can also appear for the exam. If got selected then he/she need to provide the attested certificate by the Principal of their institution stating that they are eligible for obtaining the degree or an equivalent certificate.

CAT Exam Pattern 2020


To appear in CAT, the candidate should be aware of the exam pattern to attempt it hassle-free.  It is very important to know about the exam pattern.


Duration Of Exams: Three Hours

Number Of Questions: 100

Exam Pattern: 75 MCQs & 25 Non-MCQs

Mode Of Exam: Online (Computer -based).

Marking Scheme: Three marks for each correct answer. And besides this, there will be deduction one mark for the wrong answer.

Language of Exam: English
