CTET Exam 2020:  Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern, Syllabus

CTET is the short form of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test.  It is a country level entrance exam that verifies the aspirants for teaching jobs. The exam was introduced by the Government of Indian in the year 2011 for the betterment of education quality, and accomplish free education goals for children under the Education Act. As per the NCTE notification sub-section 1 of RTE section 23, now CTET exam is a must to get the government jobs in schools for teaching junior high school students. CBSE Board has the responsibility to arrange the exam.

Candidates willing to appear in CTET exams can visit the official website to enroll themselves for the exams. The exam is arranged in different languages and 110 cities across the country.

CTET Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The complete exam is organized both in Hindi and English languages. The score of the CTET exam is valid for 7 years. Look here the exam pattern for Paper 1 and Paper 2 of CTET exam.

CTET Exam Eligibility

The minimum age limit to Apply for CTET is 18 years, but there is no maximum age limit.

Educational Qualification

Education qualification for both primary and upper primary stage teacher is different.

Minimum education requirement for primary teacher ( class 1 to 5)

  • Aspirants should pass Senior Secondary or equivalent exams with minium 50 percent marks.
  • Candidate with 2 years diploma in elementary education can also apply for the exam
  • As per NCTE act, the aspirant should have passed senior secondary or equivalent with minimum 45% marks.
  • A candidate with a minimum of 50% marks in senior secondary or equivalent, having 4 years of a bachelor's degree ( elementary education ) can apply for the exam.
  • Candidate with minimum 50% marks in senior secondary & having two years diploma in special education
  • 2 years diploma graduates in elementary education can also apply for an exam.

Minimum Educational Qualification to become an elementary teacher

  • A graduate having two years of Diploma in elementary education appearing or passed.
  • Graduate with 50% marks, and having B.ED of 1-year appearing or passed is eligible for exam.
  • According to NCTE Act, candidates should be graduate with 45 % marks & above have B.Ed or 1  year, appearing or passed are eligible to apply exam.
  • Candidate with 50% marks in senior secondary & having 4 years bachelors degree in elementary education or passed or appearing is eligible for exam
  • Aspirant with 50% marks in senior secondary having 2 years diploma in special education
  • Graduate candidate with 2 years diploma in elementary education is also applicable.

Application Process- CTET Exam

The complete application process by CTET is carried online. All application forms are available on the official website. It is recommended for candidates to fill the application form within the given time frame.

  • Copy of 10th certificate
  • Banking details for online payment

CTET Application Process

  • Visit the official website of CTET- https://ctet.nic.in/
  • Click the online registration button at the bottom of the home page
  • Doing this you will be redirected to the registration page
  • After that click button, proceed to apply online
  • Now carefully read instructions and click proceed to apply online
  • Then complete authentication form & submit details.
  • Submit registration details, and once after successful completion of registration, you will receive registration ID and password.
  • Use ID & password to sign in via registration page
  • Complete form, upload documents and make payment
  • Once the payment is successful, take print out of the confirmation page.

Note:

  • If you have previously applied, then providing CTET roll numbers of the previous 3 attempts is mandatory.
  • Information filled in application form for CTET exam should be same as shown in class 10 board exam.

Opportunities for Candidates Passing CTET Exams

Once qualifying Paper 1, the aspirant becomes eligible to teach students of class 1 to 5 and qualifying paper 2, the aspirant can teach class 6th to 8th students. CTET is applicable to:

  • All schools under Central Government including KVs, NVs, etc.
  • Schools under control of Union Territories
  • Schools under state government
  • CBSE affiliated schools
  • Private schools without any affiliations also have an option to consider CTET score to recruit teachers
