IIM Admission 2021-23: Released Shortlist Result

IIM Admission 2021-2023 Criteria: Indian Institute of Management (IIM), has released the shortlist of candidates for the PGP 2021-23 program batch and for the PGP-FABM batch 2021-23 on January 13, 2021 in online mode. Candidates can check the IIM  2021 shortlist by entering their CAT registration number and email ID for the specific program chosen. Candidates whose name appeared on the IIM  short list will now have to apply for the WAT / GD / PI rounds on the basis of which they will be granted final admission to IIM. He previously published the minimum cut-off eligibility criteria based on CAT 2020 to declare the IIM 2021 short list for an additional selection procedure. IIM started the admissions process for a two-year graduate program in management after the declaration of the CAT 2020 result. The Common Admission Test (CAT) was conducted on November 29, 2020 and the CAT result was declared on Jan 2, 2021. The first step to enter the IIM is to take the CAT exam. The result of CAT 2020 was announced on January 2, 2021. The IIM admissions process for the 2021-2023 MBA / PGP lot will begin soon with the shortlist of candidates for the written ability test (WAT), group discussion ( GD) and personal interview (PI) rounds.

Each year, more than two lakh of MBA applicants take the CAT to enter a total of approximately 5,000 MBA seats across the 20 IIM campuses. In 2020, around 2.30 lakh of candidates applied for the exam and 1.90 lakh of candidates appeared for it. In CAT 2019, the total number of applications received was 2.44 lakh, while more than 2.09 lakh of candidates took the exam.

IIM's admission criteria and selection process include not only choosing candidates based on their CAT percentile, but also based on WAT / GD and PI performance, academic history, academic diversity, gender diversity, and work experience . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, many IIMs discarded WAT and GD, and conducted PI via video calls to enter the 2020 MBA batch. For the 2021 batch, IIMs are expected to go through the admissions process as before, ie in person WAT / GD and PI.

CAT result

IIM Indore, the lead body, declared the CAT 2020 result on January 2, 2021. Only candidates who applied for CAT 2020 will be able to download the CAT 2020 scorecard by entering their login credentials. The CAT 2020 scorecard mentions the overall and sectional score and percentile of the candidates. After the declaration of the CAT 2020 result, the IIMs and other upper B schools have published their respective limit based on the CAT score. Students who qualify for the CAT cap will be shortlisted for the admission process of the respective institutes.

IIM  2021 Admission Criteria - Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to IIM admission 2021-2023PGP must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate CGPA or equivalent grades. Students belonging to the reserved category will receive a 5% relaxation.
  • The bachelor's degree must involve a minimum of three years of education along with 10 + 2 or equivalent.
  • The conversion of grades or CGPA will be followed according to the regulations of the university / institute from which the student has graduated.
  • In case no conversion scheme is provided by the institute / university, the IIM  will obtain the equivalence by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
  • Applicants who take the final exam of the qualifying exam can also apply as long as they present the required documents in the stipulated time.
  • The admission of said candidate will be provisional and will be confirmed when the student presents the grade sheets and the certificate of completion of the degree with a minimum percentage required.

IIM  Admission Criteria 2021-2023

The IIM admission 2021-2023Criteria is a two-step process. In the first step, candidates are shortlisted for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) on the basis of a valid CAT 2020 score, that they have applied for the program, and meet the eligibility criteria for the program.

Process 1 - Preliminary Assessment

CAT 2020 consisted of three sections, namely, Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC). Only candidates who meet the minimum cutoff criteria, both sectional and general, are considered for subsequent rounds of admission to IIM  2021. At different stages of the IIM  "Application Rating" selection process, the student's score (AR) will be used. AR is the sum of qualification scores based on your percentage in the 10th and 12th standard, current, undergraduate discipline, and work experience. See the table below for the score for each component.


The Food Management and Agribusiness Graduate Program is a two-year full-time MBA-level program. The authorities have published the limit for PGP-FABM based on the CAT 2020 score. Candidates who meet the cut-off criteria will be eligible for selection rounds conducted by IIM .


The total fee payable for the academic year of the PGP 2021-2023 program at IIM  will be Rs. 23,00,000 (approx.) Including Rs. 16.99,000 as a tuition fee. Additional expenses will include a laptop, computer, personal boarding expenses, travel, clothing, and laundry. The program fee for the 2022-2023 academic year will be based on the previous year's batch fee, adjusted for inflation.
