Career as a junior Engineer in Indian Railways is considered as the first choice for fresh engineering graduates. Railway recruitment board conducts this exam in order to select candidates for multiple posts like JE, depot material superintendent, senior selection, etc.

RRB JE exam has 150 objective type questions which should be completed within 120 minutes. The complete exam is based on Arithmetic, GA, GI, reasoning and technical ability.

The expected monthly salary for the selected candidate starts at 42000. The Railway JE salary comes under Payscale 2, which varies from 9300 to 34500, where grade pay is 4200. During training, the candidate is also given the DA as an addition to basic pay. Once after completion of training, the basic salary is added with DA, TA & HRA. 

Railway Recruitment Board-Non-Technical Popular Categories ( RRB NTPC)

The RRB NTPC exam is held by Railway recruitment board for the recruitment of candidates for several posts like- Traffic apprentice, goods guard, commercial apprentice, assistant station master, etc. Aspirants willing to pursue a career in the non-technical field can take the RRB NTPC exam.

Exam Pattern-

It is a PC based test conducted in two phases-Pre & Mains.  Pre-exam has 100 questions, 1 marks each ( total 100 marks). The main exam has 120 questions, 1 marks each( total 120 marks).

Time: 90 minutes.

Age Limit: 18-32 years

Salary- Varies according to posts.

Candidate must have a graduate or equivalent degree from a recognized university. Some posts like senior clerk cum typist, or junior accounts assistant cum typist require typing expertise of candidate.

Railway Protection Force Sub Inspector ( RPF SI)

It's a very good opportunity for aspirants seeking their career in the Railway Protection force. RPF SI job is not only interesting but full of challenges. RPF board arranges the exam to hire candidates for the posts of constable or Sub Inspector.

Exam Pattern, Eligibility Criteria, and Salary Overview

SI exam is based on four important subjects- General intelligence & reasoning, Numerical aptitude, GK and general English. Three hours exam has 200 questions( objective type), each 1 mark( total 200 marks).

The age limit for the general category is 20-25 years. Applicants must be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Physical abilities like Chest & height should also meet while appearing in the exam.

The salary of the exam ranges from 21000 ( constable) to 35000( SI) depending upon the posts. PF, pension, education assistance, travel allowance, gratuity, and other allowances are given to candidates.


RRB ALP exam is conducted by the Railway recruitment board for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot.  If you have a wish to drive the train, then taking this exam will give you a better opportunity. It is one of the most interesting jobs both in terms of salary and responsibility.

Exam Pattern Eligibility and Salary Overview

This exam is arranged in two stages both comprising of the computer-based test.  Mainly, the exam is based on GS, Reasoning, Maths, and current affairs. The first stage has 75 questions to be attempted in one hour. The second stage is divided into two portions-Part A( 1 hour 30 minutes with 100 questions) and Part B( 1 hour 75 questions).

The candidates having age between 18 to 28 years of age.

ALP employee is entitled to a salary of 19900 with several allowances including house rent allowance, transport, running allowance, and more.
